Insurance Career – What’s In It for You?

Yes- I’m talking to you! You probably have never thought about it but nothing happens without insurance. You can’t buy a house or a car, go to a grocery store or do just about anything without every component of the transaction having some kind of insurance associated with it. According to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) for 2012, the US Gross Domestic Product for Finance and Insurance was over $1.2 trillion employing over 2 million people. We hear a lot about recent graduates not able to find good jobs and military personnel coming home to a lack of employment opportunities. Let’s face it- no-one grows up thinking they want to be an insurance agent! So – let’s analyze a few reasons to put a career in insurance on your radar:

    • Recession proof– Even in a “down economy”, the requirements for insurance do not go away making the industry somewhat recession proof even when other businesses are distressed.
    • Accommodates a wide range of skills– Are you detail oriented and love finding solutions for challenges? Maybe you are into Math, statistics, accounting or computers? You may find helping people, customer service or relationship building more your thing? Almost every professional skill set has a corresponding possible insurance career.
    • Many carriers provide training– Depending on the type of position you are interested in, you can take classes to get the knowledge you need or many carriers provide great training. Colleges offering “Insurance Degrees” are few and far between but having any BA degree basically means you have the persistence to accomplish a goal making you “trainable.”
    • Risk is always changing– The ever developing world is moving so fast that exposures that need protection are also constantly changing. You can never get bored if you make an effort to keep learning new skills and change with the times.
    • Corporate America vs. small business– If you want the security or prestige associated with working for a large corporation or want to develop your Entrepreneurial spirit as a small business owner, both options can be available to you in insurance.
  • Making the big bucks– As with just about any industry, certain positions are not as lucrative as others. The nice thing about insurance is that you can make a very good or even excellent living depending on your drive for success.

It’s been a great career for me so far and I’m looking forward to some new challenges as I move into a different position within the industry. I would love to see some “new blood” take advantage of all the Insurance Industry has to offer. It may not seem very glamorous, but I’ve found it to be a “tight knit” community of some really good folks! I urge you to check it out!

Sound As a Builder and Destroyer

INTRODUCTION:

The creation of our solar system arose from the sacred WORD, uttered by the solar Logos. Sound can either build or destroy. As sound builds, it does so in spirals. These spirals can be observed in nature for one with a keen eye. The etheric double which surrounds the gross physical body, for example, is ovoid, which originates from a spiral motion of sound which produces it. Sound brings forms into manifestation. Gentle vibrations build and smooth and calm while violent vibrations destroy, break up and shatter forms. The arrangement of leaves on a trig also forms spirals. And, so do the tides of the ocean form into spirals, as they ebb and flow against the beachheads. The universal nautilus and that “listening” shell you find on the beach are both spiral in formation. Rocks, which have been formed by the gentle motion of water smooth out in a somewhat rounded form toward its ultimate spiral formation.

DISCUSSION:

Since sound is so universal and so important in our solar system, it behooves each of us to take conscious notice of sounds in our daily lives. For those who can hear it, there is a constant hum heard in our surrounding world. Some occultists refer it to the ubiquitous OM of our system which sustains all of Life and Existence on this planet. This sound is ever present anywhere in the world and at any time of day or night. It never goes away, and fortunately if it did, our solar system would automatically disappear.

Consider how sound grates upon or smooths our nervous systems. Music can calm or excite the nervous system. Classical music rotates between these two so as to create a contrast in sound. Artists choose their colors between dark and light so as to catch the eye and avoid plainness.

Singers also apply this change in vibrations from soft to loud to create variation and avoid monotony, as do drummers. The beat of the human heart does likewise so as to continually send out and retrieve the blood via the arteries and the veins. It beats at a constant rhythm if healthy and can destroy if out of harmony. There is a constant rhythm in our solar system which controls the harmony of our system. Nature proceeds via a harmonious evolutionary rhythm of creation and destruction. Civilizations, creatures come and go. It is only man that creates disharmony in our system.

The human voice can smooth or agitate our nervous system. Loud voices or harsh verbal vibrations grate our nerves, while soft vocalizations calm and harmonize. It all depends on the vibrations created by our voices. Notice that when we become angry or agitated how our voices rise, until we end up screaming at each other. This only tends to drive us apart from each other as we wish to escape from such cacophonous sounds. Lovey, cooy, embracing sounds come in whispers of love and compassion.

Our large, bustling, ever thriving and constantly in motion cities cannot but result in disharmonious sounds Each sound grates against another and to find any harmony we must retreat to the gentle sounds of nature and the countryside. That is why there is no much friction, crime, distrust, hatred and prejudice in larger cities with which we are continuously confronted. That is why our fragile nervous systems are constantly breaking down. Mental illness is constantly growing in our society at a time when it is less funded and more befuddling to those who would try to counteract the destruction to our mental health.

At the time of our deaths, the need is for quietness and calmness and not the wailing and carrying on by the bereaved. The dying person needs low vibrations to surround his deathbed so as he or she can concentrate on making the transition to the afterlife, and not be distracted by this worldly chaos. And, cremation, vibratory fire, destroys the physical aspects of our being much quicker than burial and will one day become the number one choice. Any diseases we might carry in our physical bodies are quickly destroyed rather than buried in the earth to arise anew in more devastating forms later. Right thinking is always necessary but such thinking must be translated into action and behavior.

CONCLUSION:

As the occultists say, we each create our own environments, minute to minute, just as we create our own lifestyles, both immediate and long range by the sounds we emit. The consequences in our present lives as well as life after death and in our next incarnations on this planet are created by the sounds we make. Thought forms, which we are constantly making, are also energy vibrations and like sound proper, have calming or agitating outcomes. Thoughts of anger, jealously, greed and revenge create strong vibrations and can if harsh enough lead to destructions of various kinds. Gentle thoughts of tenderness, compassion and love generate mild vibrations and are embracing and enhancing of human relationships.

This is where the importance of self control of our thoughts, emotions, and behavior one toward the other has such profound consequences, for either desirable or undesirable outcomes. And, it is up to each of us to learn those controls. Just as individual relationships are governed by the sounds we create so it is between nations. Distrust, harsh words and thoughts of one nation toward another result in the same type disharmonious relationships.

Goodwill, altruism, universal brotherhood arises from and depends upon what we think and say in our daily intercourses. Or, the reverse of hatred, prejudices, and ill-will which we also can create. The choice is a constant individual one and at base depends upon to what extent we have assumed personal responsibility for our small part in how our world progresses. It all depends upon sound.

In all things created, the “ingredients” we put into the product determine the final outcome. Society and nations are made up of its citizens, and a society is no better than the general character of the people that make up the population. Until each of us assume our individual share of enhancing our own character and controlling the sounds we create no societal change for the betterment of the human race can result. And, it all depends upon the sounds we make which manifest as daily actions.

The End

Latest Fashion News and Ideas: Bags Invade, and the Clutch Wins!

This season is your turn to try the sassiest bag! From classy bags to funky ones, here are the latest fashion news and ideas and the best handbag designs so far.

Pick the bag that suits your fashion style. You can pick top handles: No matter how you decide to wear them, this year choose your bags with small top handles as they are here to conquer the fashion runaways. You can also go for bucket bags: this trend has been going on for a few seasons now and it is far from disappearing, as it is evolving more and more in different shapes and many embroideries and designs.

A new fashion trend in the bag region: camera bags: It seems the trend of technology in bags is not limited to phones only. This season you will also be seeing a lot of camera bags, which are bags but with a little more volume and size, big enough to fit your bag.

Or you can go for clutches. When you think of clutch handbags, you think weddings, prom night, or dinner parties, but never everyday outings. They’re not very practical, and you can barely fit your phone, wallet, and keys in there.

Nevertheless, they do have their perks; they look pretty, minimalistic, modern, and are a chic change from traditional handbags. So if you’ve been wanting to convert to a clutch but don’t really feel they’re comfortable, here are some tips on how you can pull off the look.

Use a strap: You don’t have to carry the clutch in your hand. And instead of carrying a large, heavy bag on your shoulder, carry a clutch with a strap. It’s light and practical.

Take just what you need: Take a look at your bag right now; what can you find in it? You’ll probably find a bottle of perfume that’s been empty since last spring, along with lots of other stuff you don’t use. When you go out, what do you really need besides your wallet, keys, and maybe a couple of makeup essentials? That way, you’ll not only make it lighter, but you’ll also find what you’re looking for faster.

Pick a clutch that has pockets: Some clutches have pockets on the outside, which can hold some extra items like your phone or mascara. You can also use that space to put your cash and cards instead of taking your wallet, so you’ll free up some space in the main pocket.

Choose the right size for you: Some clutches are actually quite large, which may tempt you to get them. But if you have a petite figure, a large clutch might look awkward, so take a look at yourself in the mirror before you buy it just to make sure it’s not oversized for you.

Choose the pattern/color carefully: If you have a basic style in clothing, go for a patterned clutch to add some flair to your outfit. But if you’re wearing something with lots of stripes and designs, you should carry a clutch with.

Healing a ‘Fix Others’ Addiction

Many of us were raised to base our identity on helping or fixing others. Fixing others is often the addiction of choice for people who have a naturally deep level of empathy and who easily feel others’ pain.

This was one of my major addictions for many years. Deeply feeling my parents’ pain and the pain of others around me was unbearable to me as a child. I thought that if only I could make them happy then I wouldn’t have to feel their pain.

Leslie is struggling with this very issue:

“I am completely attached and addicted to trying to help my sister. I can see now that my health and chronic pain is very much linked to hers – not wanting to be better/healthier than her for fear of rejection abandonment and criticism. If you have any words on how to release the habit of obsessing over others problems and the need to “fix it” before I can be happy and free, would be greatly appreciated.”

Leslie, as I discovered with myself when I started to practice my inner work process, the fear of rejection, abandonment and criticism comes from rejecting, abandoning and criticizing yourself. You are making your sister responsible for whether or not you are okay, which means that you are making her responsible for your feelings. As you learn and practice doing inner work and learn to take loving care of yourself, you will naturally be able to let go of your addiction to fixing her.

You not only have the right to be happy and free, you also have the responsibility for creating your own happiness and freedom, instead of making your sister responsible for this. As you diligently practice the inner work process and develop your loving adult self and your spiritual connection, you will gradually have an easier time focusing on what you need rather than on what she needs.

Trying to fix her has nothing to do with loving yourself or with loving her. In fact, trying to fix her is very controlling. It took me a long time to understand that fixing others is a form of control, but once I understood this and accepted that my responsibility is to love myself and share my love with others, I was able to let go of fixing.

Sharon has a similar issue:

“How do you conquer unhealthy attachments, or rather, if you had become attached because of fear of abandonment or desire to “fix” (both co-dependent traits), how do you help break those ties and find self love and self trust again? When you are always thinking about the “other” person/breakup/past issues, it is hard to live in the moment and not be overwhelmed with worry, sadness or anxiety.”

Sharon, as an adult, the fear of abandonment comes from self-abandonment – such as judging yourself, staying in your head and ignoring your feelings, turning to addictions, and making others responsible for your feelings. Your worry, sadness and anxiety are telling you that you are abandoning yourself. Self-abandonment comes from the intent to control others and avoid your own feelings, and this is what leads to unhealthy attachments and trying to fix others. As long as you don’t have a strong inner connection with your feeling self – your inner child – and with a personal source of love and wisdom, you will continue to attach to others in unhealthy ways. Like Leslie, you need to learn to love yourself by learning and practicing the inner work healing process.

You CAN heal a ‘fixing others’ addiction by focusing on learning to love yourself rather than continuing to abandon yourself. If I can do it, so can you!

Arise, O’ Compatriot

There’s the issue of bad supply of power, unemployment, fuel scarcity, false declaration of assets, budget loss, book-haram, invasion of herdsmen, loss of pride, betrayal, and a whole nest of them. As a problem declines, another surges. I can faintly remember some issues, like a guy that was sent to 12-month imprisonment for urinating in his neighbor’s pot of soup, and a politician that was only fined a few coins after embezzling a huge part of the national treasury. I faintly remember the facts of those many issues, because they are no longer trending. Back then, my friends and I would pick up our phones and check the latest on those issues. Today, we check trending news, but once they get off the trending list, we get off the cases; not like back then when we would follow the issue for months.

I do not remember at what point in time, or what strategy it took, but I have realized we have lost our hope. Nigeria’s most challenging issue as of today is the break in spirit. Every new generation comes in with a renewed spirit, waiting to break out and affect the change. Different generations, same weapon: Hope! And the same enemy has always invested the broken spirit on them. The greatest enemy we face is ourselves. We may cry all we want about how Former President Goodluck Jonathan failed to create enough jobs, or how Babangida was rumoured to embezzle. Even if the ‘oga at the top’ turn out to be guilty of the mountains of accuses piled up against them, what would they be guilty of? They would be guilty of broken dreams, not broken spirit; they would be guilty of broken hearts, not loss of hope. True they may have misused the chance to serve, but that should not mean we all should betray our hearts and the unborn generation.

A Nigerian doesn’t need to speak, just the reaction on their face would say all after hearing the slang, “E go better”. No one believes it would be better for Nigeria, so every man’s dream is to make things better for themselves, and maybe their families.

It is just a challenge, the break in spirit. And this begs the question, what is the balm for a broken spirit?

Everyone got broken on their own terms, and thus, everyone should heal on their own.

Christians should hold steadfast to the part of the bible that states that, “The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18)

Muslims should believe more than ever that the Quran says that, “We have sent down in the Quran that which is healing and a mercy to those who believe.” (Surat Al-Isra: 17:82)

The philosophic individuals should remember that a man of honour should never bend to unpleasant circumstances.

What religion! What belief! The point is to heal in the best way possible, only that the result must be a renewed vigour, a renewed strength to fight the hopelessness, uplift our neighbours, hope for the best and gird for the worst. And always remember dearly “to serve our fatherland with love and strength and faith”.
